What a week it’s been

It’s friday of our first full time week of Levlr, Inc, and what an incredible week it has been. We expected to be able to get a lot more done once we were able to focus on our vision and plan, but the sheer quantity of tasks getting both accomplished and those queueing up is astounding to us. Every day (besides monday) we’ve added a new type of data to track on levlr.com and plan to keep them coming. We’ve rebuilt pieces of our framework, and there’s a whole lot more going on behind the scenes here at the office with some exciting stuff coming soon, as levlr.com is only an example of what we built using our platform!

One week in and we’re already seeing competition arise, which to us is a huge positive validation of the emerging market we are targeting. If you end up with no competition in your line of business, that may be tip that your market isn’t quite quite there yet.

The AlphaLab experience has been going exceedingly well also as we’ve already initiated collaborative efforts between some of the other startups in our class, which will guide us all towards better products for our respective markets. Each startup definitely has their own unique vision for their product, but the trend to social and collaborative media does not go unnoticed. OfferMint is very useful service for aggregating coupon and deal sites & services, Devotee is building a mobile application for brand and product loyalty that will lead to user discounts, CareerImp will make it easier to match jobseekers with employment, and NoWait is creating a service that will save the restaurant and their clientele headaches in the table-waiting process.

We also wanted to take the time to seriously thank all of the testers in our private beta group for all of the immensely helpful feedback they’ve been sending in. We’re keeping up to the best of our ability, and none of your comments are going unheard.

Levlr, Inc

As of yesterday, we are proud to say that Levlr, Inc now legally exists as a corporation. Here’s a little background on how we got to where we are today. The idea behind Levlr was conceived in early 2010 while still employed as consultants at another Pittsburgh tech company. Given that one cannot succeed in business without the actual implementation of visionary ideas, we began work in our spare time on the Levlr platform. As the weeks went by we were tipped off by some good friends at deeplocal to AlphaLab, an incubator created by Innovation Works, so we decided to go for it.

Weeks turned into months, and we were well on our way to an alpha product being tested by users, and we got the call to interview for AlphaLab. That we were excited is an understatement, but we quickly prepared our presentation and it seemed to go quite well in our eyes. A combination of luck and talent proved to work out in the end, as we were selected as one of the 6 startups of the second AlphaLab class of 2010.

We are absolutely thrilled to say we will be in our office space in the South Side of Pittsburgh on Monday, formally kicking off a work that has been in progress already for many months. Thanks to everyone’s support along the way as we’ve made this far, and continue our planned success.

A blog is born

So many blogging services to choose from… the decision came down to something I read in a review of tumblr vs. posterous, where tumblr was described as being lead by design & usability, not technology, so I opted to go this route. The Levlr social media onslaught grows daily, from web to twitter to facebook and iPhone apps in the works.

Only two weeks left until we’re officially in business - more coming soon…
